Pay as you go
Saturday, I got up early. I wasn’t going to just lay there all day no matter how sweet the kitty was being. I dare you to be in a hurry to start laundry and get the lawn mowed when you have a warm kitty purring in your ear and allowing itself to be used as a pillow. It was great until Kitty will figured out I wasn't feeding him and he will forced me to get up. So I did. And I was good! I started on the laundry, I mowed the lawn and I emptied the dishwasher. The night before I cleaned the kitchen. I was feeling pretty useful and I still had things to do.
Dogger needed more heart worm preventive. I had learned earlier in the week that I can’t just pick up new pills at another Petsmart. I have to go to my Petsmart. Whatever. The logic I was using was that if Dogger had been on oral heart worm preventive for the last six months and for two years prior had been on a IM vax version of same, and so, in my reality, had no need to be tested for heart worms because she could not have them. I should be able to go in give the technician my name write a check and get my pills, Dogger should not have to be there. Should not is not Did not. I took Dogger with me on the trip because I had a week of many after work errands and Dogger did not get her walks. She had a lot of crate time and I felt guilty. So I took her with me Saturday morning. It’s a good thing.
Our first stop was to put gas in Minnie. I got lucky and only paid $2.13 a gallon. That is so sad. Anyway, gassed up we went on down the road to the Petsmart. I told Dogger to sit tight and I would be right back we had more stops to make and she was going to have a busy day. I go to the vets office and tell them who I am and why I am there. Blank Look from the girl at the desk. Dogger needs a heart worm test, according to their records she didn’t have one back in January when I had to take her in to get the shot they won’t give anymore. I think they don’t give it because they were losing money on the deal. Anyway. I told them she did get the test last time and she didn’t have heart worms then and I really doubt that she had it now but the office was lucky because I had her with me and I good bring her in for this and then we could leave.
The office told me I was lucky that they could get me in and told me to go fetch her and they would put us in an exam room. Sigh. I still had things to do. I had the rest of the laundry to do and as I was standing there I had a load of freshly clean laundry growing mold in the washer. This little test better be fast.
Humph.
We waited. And Waited. And waited. I listened to a tech out in the waiting room telling some guy his dog was going to need hundreds of dollars of vet care before he could leave the office. The poor guy didn’t even have the dog with him!. By the time the tech was through with him he was going to need a second mortgage to pay off the dogs vet needs.
Long story short? The tech comes in plays with the computer and tells me I need $275 worth of vetting for Dogger, today. I tell her she is crazy and I am here for Doggers heart worm test and pills and nothing else. $141 dollars and two shots later, they let me leave.
