Bits and pieces, 2006

It’s all over. There isn’t anything to look forward to until the spring? The spring is a very long way away, there isn’t anything until Easter – there will be no surprise food showing up in the break room for months! I know Valentines Day falls somewhere in there but I don’t go to that church and Valentines rarely engenders baked goods in the breakroom.

Drib

I came back from New Years and saw my tree in the living room and I was like “What? Are you still here? , Gawd! Couldn’t you have put yourself away while I was gone? And what is the meaning of all those lights outside? Does no one do anything around here when I’m not here?” there is nothing more outre’ than a Christmas tree after New Years. I was like "If you are going to hang around don't you have something you could wear that's less Christmas and more January White Sale?” and while I was at it, I noticed a great big blank spot on the one side. The space had been disguised with lights since I put the tree up and it and its bald spot will stay up until epiphany, but my outdoor lights have spread their last holiday cheer and the little tree in the office is going to be moving back to its home very soon and might even make the journey to the attic thanks to Dogger eating much of the box it sits on during the rest of the year when it is doing its real job of adding to the Camp Knotty Pineness of the upstairs.

Drab

Have you ever noticed that rain makes everything look different? I was driving home on Sunday and I got to looking around and I said to myself “This does not look familiar! Oh. Shit. Where did I make a wrong turn? These house trailer sales places don’t look like the ones I am supposed to be seeing. I totally do not remember seeing that abandoned tobacco barn on the way down! I am so screwed!” It wasn’t too much further as I was starting to look for possible turn offs that I finally saw something that looked familiar and I realized I was actually in the right place, the rain just disguised everything This trip for the first trip in a while I remembered to take the right turn off to get to my house. I mean, if I don’t take the turn off, I still get to my house just not as directly and I have a brief freak out when I notice that where I am is not where I am supposed to be and wind up annoyed and the first time, freaked out.

Bits

Why is it that they never announce that there is cake in the building before I have all ready made my afternoon candy machine visit?

Pieces

There are many reasons that your coat closet may not close all the way. There may have been some settling, there could be a rubber boot in the way why won't this door close? there could be a coat hanger in the path what is the problem?,thecatmayhavegoneintotheclosetandit’sstailmaybeinthedoorjam Damn. I really thought this door could close all the way.HISSSSSS!!!!!. It’s not entirely my fault, if Kitty would have done more than hiss, not at all loudly, from inside the closet, I would have never tried repeatedly to make the door close. Kitty and his tail are fine, a little bent out of shape, both literally and figuratively but fine.
