Pray for them

August 30, Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco ordered the complete evacuation of the city of New Orleans, including the thousands of people seeking shelter in the Superdome.

There are no words. Imagine. The whole city empty and closed, and it's a big city, bigger then most places. It's under 20 feet of water. Think of being loaded into a truck or a bus or a boat and sent north to live in a refugee camp and later tent cities and after that new towns of portable buildings - and having this be a good thing. Friday after they left to work they had friends over for dinner or washed their cars, just like we did.

On Saturday they were told to get out. Today those who left were told not to come back, not now, not soon. Those that could not, are being evacuated (which begs the question, if they can be removed now why could they not be evacuated before?). They escape the snakes and the fire ants, the poisoned water, the bodies and the malaria and the typhoid. This is happening here, in our day.
