Family members say former U.S. Sen. and Treasury Secretary Lloyd Bentsen has died, The Associated Press reports.

Benson was the Benson in Dukakis-Benson. He was the one who administered the "I knew John Kennedy and you sir are no John Kennedy" verbal smack down to then VP candidate Dan Quayle.
